Advanced Tab Features
Like the settings tab, the Advanced tab has a couple major functions.
Service Item Instance ID holds the unique key for searching Kinetic Remedy forms for related records.
Web setting and display fields hold information used when the service item is displayed in a browser.
Attachments can hold a variety of external files that are used by the service item.
Example of Advanced Tab:
The following fields are important to the web settings of the service request:
Web Server URL - defines the web server any ports (optional) and the domain that are associted with your service item. The normal construction is http://myServerName:ports/kinetic. There is a list of other options available that is drawn from a configuration item. When a service item is imported, it is given the default URL for the environment.
Display Page JSP - sets the jsp page that is used to display a request. /dispalyPage.jsp is the default that comes with the application. You can add your own path to the display Page JSP to match any customizations you have made to your web server.
Allow Anonymous - check box enables the Open Anonymous link for the service item next to the Status field.
Anonymous URL - read only field that presents the entire anonymous URL for the service item.
Display Name For URL - the normal URL for a service item includes the instance Id from the Service Item Instance ID at the end to uniquely identify the service item to be displayed. To create a "friendlier" URL, place a unique (throughout the entire Kinetic Request/Kinetic Survey applications) name in this field. Then change your URL to be the following:
Default anonymous URL - http://myWebServer:port/kinetic/DisplayPage?srv=AG98125b2fpuiqbq48237rgqbtb
URL with Display Name For URL value of appRequest
The value in the Display Name For URL field must be valid to use in a URL - no spaces or special characters.
The attachments table and the corresponding buttons let you add files that are used by the service item. There are four types of files that can be added.
Example of Add File dialog:
Image - After adding, images are available to the service item from the Add Image dialog on the Pages tab. File names must conform to URL standards (no spaces or unusual/resrticted characters).
Stylesheet - single file only. It is added to the head of the display page jsp file.
File - any type of file that needs to be kept with the service item. This is often a pdf or similar document that has a link to reference it somewhere in the service item.
All of the images are saved in Remedy attachment fields on the service item. They are also saved on the web server in the directory alloted to the service item.
After selecting the FIle Type you need to complete the following fields:
Attachment Description is a text description of the file.
FIle Name is the file name that is shown on the HTML, it doesn't have to be the same as the actual file.
Attach the actual file in the Remedy attachment field. Right click for options menu.
